A brief history of Deal
Deal developed into a port by the end of the 13th century. Deal, Sandown and Walmer castles were constructed around the town by order of King Henry VIII to defend against the threat of foreign naval attack.
The Goodwin Sands are around six miles off of Deal’s coastline and they are known as a source of shelter and point of danger in the history of sea travel.
Travel from Deal
Travel to and from Deal is easy. The high speed rail link to London St. Pancras connects Deal to the capital in around an hour and 50 minutes. Alternatively, National Express Coaches offer a good service in and out of the town.
Getting around the local area couldn’t be more simple, with buses connecting Deal to all the surrounding towns and well sign-posted roads make driving easily negotiable.
