Thinking of a seaside move? Take a look at Kent’s Blue Flag & Award-winning beaches

As you may already know the beaches across Kent are among the highest rated in the country.

 28 of the 31 award-winning beaches in Kent are in areas covered by Miles & Barr branches

Blue Flag & Seaside Awards for 2019 have been announced and they once again evidence the quality of the coastline on the doorstep for those who are fortunate enough to live nearby.

The Blue Flag winners also receive the Seaside Award, take a look and see whether your favourite coastal hotspot has made the cut…

The Blue Flag & Seaside Award winners…

Located near Whitstable, Tankerton was one of only three beaches outside of Thanet to boast Blue Flag status, the other two being Sheerness Beach and Minster Leas. 

Thanet’s Blue Flags have been awarded to Minnis Bay (Birchington), West Bay & St Mildred’s Bay (Westgate), Margate Main Sands & Westbrook Bay (Margate) and Botany Bay & Stone Bay (Broadstairs).

Blue Flag certification is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education. In brief, the required criteria to meet Blue Flag certification includes a combination of quality standards, safety, education, services and environmental management. 

The Seaside Award winners…

A further 21 beaches across the county are Seaside Award winners. Visitors who head to a Seaside Award beach do so in the knowledge that the standard is safe and clean.  

The beaches outside of Thanet recognised as Seaside Award winners include Reculver, Herne Bay, Sandgate Beach. Thanet’s Seaside Award winners are Dumpton Gap, Joss Bay, Viking Bay & Louisa Bay (Broadstairs), Ramsgate Main Sands & Ramsgate Western Undercliff (Ramsgate) and Walpole Bay (Margate).
