Deal – Cosmopolitan and Independent

A town filled with hidden surprises, Deal is attracting local buyers and has a high demand from down from London buyers due to its cosmopolitan and independent atmosphere. The array of independent stores and boutiques offers a diverse selection of products that are a huge hit with shoppers who are looking for something less commercial and unique. From social point of view, eating in Deal is a ‘foodies dream’ – ranging from cafés like the Slow Café serving brunch from locally sourced ingredients to quirky afternoon teas at The Lane and high end restaurants like Whits of Walmer to name a few. The seafront, pier, walks and views provide an almost holiday destination with a getaway feel – a slow-paced lifestyle without being too disconnected from the essentials of everyday life.

History, Heritage & Culture

Deal is home to the last fully intact pier in Kent, which is unsurprisingly Grade II listed. There are several museums in the town, documenting its maritime history. Deal has three castles in total, Deal and Walmer Castle are English Heritage operated, while the third, Sandown Castle, has ruins in the north of the town. The high street was the winner of The Telegraph’s first High Street of the Year award and is filled with independent run boutique and quirky stores.


Travel Links

Deal, like all of our local towns, is on the high speed link to St Pancras and takes around an hour and 20 minutes to the capital. On the same line you can pick up Eurostar links onto the continent, with the journey to Ashford around 40-minutes. Travelling in and around the local area is easy, with reliable bus routes or by car and getting from Deal onto the motorway routes is just a short drive.

Deal offers an array of different property types to suit all kinds of buyers from well preserved Georgian townhouses, apartments with direct sea views and beautiful homes on the infamous Middle Street conservation area.

Deal is a highly desirable place to buy property in East Kent, but its property prices still remain quite reasonable compared to other commuter towns with equally quick access to London. One-bedroom flats can start at around £120,000, with two-bed terraced properties priced between £150,000 and £400,000. Three-bed semi-detached houses at between £230,000 and £450,000.

The average property price for Deal is around £274,000 and between 2016-17 prices increased by 8% and were up on 2015 by some 20%.
