Broadstairs – The Jewel in the Crown The town is known as the ‘Jewel in Thanet’s Crown’ and was formally called Bradstow(e) – meaning broad place. There is a historical reference to the ‘Shrine of Our Lady’ which acted as a landmark for sailors and has now been converted in The Chapel micropub. The town has a thrivi
