This afternoon, Thursday February 16, we had the great pleasure of presenting Pilgrims Hospice Margate with a cheque of £28,523.86, the total raised by Miles & Barr for the charity in 2016.
It was great to have so many faces from the Margate Hospice turn up for the presentation and a massive thanks must go to all involved who provide such an amazing service for so many people in need.
Our committment to donate £10 for every 'sales exchange' and £5 for every 'lettings move in' totalled at a whopping £26,010. This provided the bulk of our donation, however we did have some fun for the other monies raised along the way.
In the earlier part of 2016 a great number of our staff competed in the 'It's a Knockout' event, run by Pilgrims Hospices. This was an extremely fun day for all involved and raised an impressive £897.54. Our teams competed alongside many other local companies in Ramsgate, taking part in challenges and team exercises.
As many of you will have seen and been part of, our summer stand at Broadstairs Folk Week, which always proves to be popular with locals and those from further afield, contributed to £686.06 of the donation. Our free balloons and mini footballs are always a hit as well as Soozi the caricaturist.
The final part of the donation came from the Westgate Christmas fayre in our raffle which helped to raise £930.26. There were a range of prizes on offer all of which were donated by the local Westgate shops, which we were extremely grateful for. The prizes ranged from vouchers for local businesses in the town to electronic goods and soft cuddly toys.
We are delighted with the efforts from all involved at Miles & Barr as well as the generosity from all of those who helped make the donation possible. We hope this continues to increase awareness for such a worthy cause.
We are looking forward to working with the local community in 2017 to raise even more money for charities in the local area.
