When would I be moving if I put my property on the market now?

If you have decided that 2018 is the time for you to make the move to your next home then you might want to consider some information about the process. One of the busiest times property portals are used is during the festive period, so if you had not already marketed your property, you have potentially missed a trick, but there is no need to panic.

The national average for moving home is currently at 16 weeks according to Rightmove, but clients using our recommended solicitors have experienced timescales six weeks less than that on average. While there can be delays in any property move that are out of your control, such as the sales chain, if you were to have an offer accepted on a property this week you could potentially not be on the move until March onwards.

There is also an historic consensus that placing your property on the market in the Spring is traditionally the best time. However, what we know is, as mentioned a large proportion of buyers have already begun their property search with a view to be actually moving into it in the Spring and Summer.

With that in mind, if you are keen on moving sooner rather than later and also want to take advantage of the good buyers already searching for their ideal home, we would suggest now is as good a time as any to get your property on the market.
