In any market, people have to move home and the right property will sell to the right buyer at the right price. Estate Agency in its traditional form has been around for some 80 years and, as with any industry, it has its ups and downs.

The Housing Market is always naturally on the up and the fact remains that the UK population is constantly growing:

  • We are living longer
  • There is increasing migration from other countries
  • More people are going to university
  • Divorce and relationship breakdowns, sadly, are increasing
  • Investment portfolios and second homes are now highly desirable

 

The natural result is a high demand for property which in turn means a natural demand for an estate agent. There is a sound argument that in any market a good quality estate agent is needed as in spite of the stereotypical reputation estate agents have, nearly everyone uses one! Estate agency has a unique selling point over and above many other industries - doing business with the buyer and the seller at the same time, thus generating double the opportunities.

Is now the right time?

Yes! Over the last 10 years we have seen an exceptionally buoyant market with new estate agents opening at an unprecedented rate. However, today is a very different picture with many agents struggling through a lack of infrastructure, professional training, sales skills and poor marketing. It is an old saying but when the going gets tough, the tough get going. The market is now settling into a phase of readjustment, and during these times if you know what you are doing, the cream always rises to the top!
