The wartime tunnels are a make for a fascinating visit. They provided shelter for an estimated 60,000 people during the Second World War and guided tours attract residents and visitors in the area.

Housed in the Clock House on the quayside at the harbour, the museum focuses on Ramsgate and its immediate surroundings, with an introduction to the rest of the region’s maritime past.

As with all towns on the East Kent coastline, beaches are a common visit, Dumpton Gap, Pegwell Bay and Sandwich Bay are all points of interest and easily reachable in the car from Ramsgate town. Ramsgate sands is a couple of minutes-walk from the town centre and is surrounded by places to pop into for a drink, ice cream or fish and chips.

The harbour isn’t to be missed, housing all kinds of boats. The surrounding area is packed with places to eat and drink so you can soak up the atmosphere with stunning views.
